eware of Requests to provide your address from any moving company claiming to be contracted by Energy Crew.
A company that goes by the names MLS movers/LMS Moving & Storage was reported by an Energy Crew customer on December 2, 2009 for its attempt to perform a move it wasn't hired to do.
In this scam, the fraudster contacted the customer and asked for the customer's address and wondered if they could arrive earlier than scheduled. When challenged by the customer as to why they didn't know the address, the scammer then claimed to be a third-party contractor hired by Energy Crew and promised a better service at a lower price than offered by Energy Crew.
How can you detect a scammer?
How can you protect yourself from this type of scam?
Whenever anyone other than your booking agent calls a few hours prior to the move's scheduled start time and claims to be contracted by Energy Crew and requests sensitive, high risk information (such as credit card information, pick-up and destination addresses and customer name), you should contact your booking agent immediately to validate that this request is legitimate.
Remember:
An investigation of this incident is ongoing. Anyone other than Energy Crew's employees and management who claims to represent or to be mandated by Energy Crew is committing an act of fraud. All offenders will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
